Aftercare Ombré/Powder Brows
Immediate Aftercare (First 24 Hours)
- Blot the Brows: Gently blot your eyebrows with a clean tissue or cotton pad to remove any excess lymph fluid. This helps to prevent scabbing.
- Avoid Touching: Refrain from touching your eyebrows with unwashed hands to avoid introducing bacteria and the risk of infection.
- Apply Healing Ointment: If provided by your technician, apply a thin layer of the recommended healing ointment to keep the area moisturised. Do not apply too much, as this can suffocate the skin.
Days 1-7: Initial Healing Stage
- • Gentle Cleansing: Clean your brows with a damp cotton pad or a gentle, unscented wipe in the morning and evening. Avoid soaking the brows or scrubbing the area.
• Keep the Area Dry: Be careful to avoid getting your eyebrows wet when washing your face or showering. If they do get wet, gently blot them dry immediately.
• Avoid Makeup: Do not apply any makeup, creams, or other products to your eyebrows during the healing process.
• Do Not Pick or Scratch: Your brows may start to scab or flake. It’s crucial not to pick or scratch at the area, as this can lead to scarring and pigment loss.
• Apply Healing Ointment: Continue applying a thin layer of the healing ointment as instructed by your technician, usually 2-3 times a day. This helps to keep the area hydrated and promote healing.
Days 7-14: Peeling and Flaking
- Expect Peeling: Your brows may go through a peeling phase where they flake off. This is a normal part of the healing process. The color may also appear lighter or uneven during this time, which is normal.
- No Picking: Let the scabs fall off naturally. Picking can remove pigment and cause scarring.
- Continue Moisturising: Keep applying the healing ointment as needed to maintain moisture in the area.
Weeks 2-4: Final Healing Stages
- Avoid Sun Exposure: Protect your brows from direct sunlight, as UV rays can fade the pigment. Once healed, use a sunscreen with SPF on your brows.
- Avoid Excessive Sweating: Try to avoid activities that cause excessive sweating, such as intense exercise or sauna sessions, as this can affect pigment retention.
- Avoid Harsh Skincare Products: Do not use exfoliants, retinoids, or other harsh skincare products near your brows until they are fully healed.
Long-Term Care
- Use Sun Protection: Continue using sunscreen on your brows to prevent fading from sun exposure.
- Moisturise Regularly: Keep the skin around your brows moisturised to maintain the health of the skin and the vibrancy of the pigment.
- Be Gentle: Avoid exfoliating or rubbing the brow area, even after it has healed.
Follow-Up Appointment
- Review Session: A follow-up session is usually recommended 4-6 weeks after the initial procedure. This allows your technician to review the shape and color, ensuring that your ombré brows look their best.
Signs of Potential Issues
- If you notice any signs of infection, such as excessive redness, swelling, pus, or severe pain, contact your technician or a healthcare professional immediately.
By following these aftercare instructions, you’ll help ensure that your ombré brows heal properly, resulting in beautifully defined and long-lasting brows.
