Proper pre-treatment care is essential for achieving the best results from your microblading procedure. Here’s a comprehensive guide to help you prepare:

Two Weeks Before the Appointment

  • Avoid Sun Exposure and Tanning: Refrain from tanning, sunbathing, or using sunbeds. Sunburned skin can be sensitive and may not hold the pigment well.
  • No Chemical Peels or Laser Treatments: Avoid chemical peels, laser treatments, or any intense facial procedures around the brow area. These can make your skin more sensitive.

One Week Before the Appointment

  • Avoid Certain Medications: If possible, stop taking blood thinners such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and fish oil supplements. These can increase the risk of bleeding and bruising during the procedure. Always consult your healthcare provider before stopping any medication.
  • No Retinoids or Exfoliants: Discontinue the use of retinol, Retin-A, and other exfoliating products near the brow area. These can make your skin more sensitive and prone to irritation.
  • Avoid Waxing or Threading: Do not wax, thread, or tweeze your eyebrows at least one week before your appointment. Let your technician work with your natural brow shape.

Three Days Before the Appointment

  • Avoid Alcohol and Caffeine: Refrain from consuming alcohol and caffeine for at least 48 hours before your appointment. These can increase bleeding, which may affect pigment retention and healing.
  • Start Antiviral Medication (If Needed): If you have a history of cold sores (herpes simplex virus) near the brow area, consult your healthcare provider about starting antiviral medication a few days before your appointment to prevent an outbreak.

Day Before the Appointment

  • No Heavy Exercise: Avoid strenuous exercise that might cause excessive sweating, which can affect the skin’s condition.
  • Moisturise Your Skin: Ensure your skin is well-hydrated but avoid using heavy creams or oils on the brow area.

Day of the Appointment

  • Cleanse Your Skin: Wash your face with a gentle cleanser, ensuring the brow area is clean and free of makeup, lotions, and oils.
  • Eat a Light Meal: Have a light meal before your appointment to ensure you’re comfortable during the procedure, which can take a couple of hours.
  • Avoid Stress: Try to stay calm and relaxed. Stress can increase sensitivity to pain.
  •  Wear Comfortable Clothing: Since you’ll be lying down for a while, wear something comfortable.

Additional Tips

  • Communicate Allergies and Medical Conditions: Inform your technician of any allergies, medical conditions, or medications you’re taking, especially those related to skin or blood.
  • Know What to Expect: Have a consultation with your technician to discuss your desired brow shape, color, and any concerns you may have. This helps set realistic expectations for the outcome.
By following these pre-treatment care steps, you’ll ensure that your skin is in the best possible condition for Microblading, leading to better results and a smoother healing process.
